Posted on Fri Jan 29th, 2021 @ 10:45pm by Captain Rhenora Kaylen & Chief Petty Officer Ronson Mitchell & Commander Savar cha'Salik hei-Surak Talek-sen-deen & Lieutenant Dean House & Lieutenant Aurora Vali

Mission: The Jungle

The Captain's leg buckled as the dog went to ground, it was bleeding profusely from the neck and wasn't in a position to be a threat. She went to her knees and rolled, grunting as she hit the dirt.

It was at that point in time Ronson and Savar returned hoisting a large animals on a pole between them.

"Mr. Ronson! See to the Captain!" Savar ordered as he pulled out his scimitar and advanced on the dog and quickly and dispassionately ended it's life.

Two dogs were down, the third was still wounded. Rhenora looked at Lt House from the ground, knowing that he was more than capable of finishing it off.

Maybe not so much. At least not from the way Dean was attacked. Normally no problem. He could take a Vulcan, unless said Vulcan was royally pissed off. or someone faster and more skilled than he was, which they are out there. Most certainly.

The last dog was on top of him, his arrow clinking to the ground as it latched onto Dean's forearm. Digging its teeth in. Just to make it worse, he reached and grabbed its upper jaw and head. Starting to pull, while pushing down with his forearm until he could get it free. Flipping that left arm around to grab. After a few moments there was a very sickening and slightly slow sound of cracks before a yelp and a hard snap. Weak stomachs should not probably come look at that.

Rhenora's gut lurched at the sound but thankfully remained where it was as Dean hauled the carcass out of the cave.

Ronson picked up his end of the boar and placed it over the fire, setting the cooking process in motions. In several hours they would have meat safe enough to eat for the next few days. After the smell of cooking meat started wafting he moved over to the Captain, easing her back to a sitting position.

"Thank you Ronson, you're a blessing. You all are" She said loud enough for them all to hear " I hate being helpless like this."

All was once again quiet, the hiss and sizzle of the meat cooking along with the occasional crackle and pop from the fire. The sounds of the jungle returned to their previous state, a quiet cacophony of intermingled sound.

"That wasn't exactly my idea of what to do after being attacked by three of those things." Dean sighed, cause, someone could have helped a little. Even if he didn't notice he was bleeding, and now he was standing there with his arm bleeding down onto the rock floor of the cave. "Is anyone hurt?"

"I can't say it did me any good but I was broken to start off with" the captain started, noticing Dean's arm "you however not so much" she pointed to the blood dripping into the sand. She wondered just how good Dean's augmentation was, would it be minutes, hours or days till his body repaired itself. She could only hope that her own injury didn't leave any permanent damage.

"Me?" Giving a look a moment. Dean faked a panic, Holding his arm, "oh me gah, oh me gah!" Stopping and giving a sigh. "I wondered if that got me or not. Apparently it did. Well damn. I might want to do something about that..those look deep also."

There were limited medical supplies left after Rhenora altercation with the Hunter, but enough to get Dean out of trouble. There was some disinfectant, and a short bandage left from the basic medkit.

"Come here" she motioned him forward, pulling the tube of antiseptic out.

"Alright." Moving over and just ripping the sleeve off to get it out of the way so Rhenora could get a better look at Dean's arm.

"I cant reach you up there, drop you ass down here Lieutenant" The captain retorted as she looked at the arm. The bites had done some damage but appearing to be on the healing process already. She waited until he was sitting next to her before having a good look.

Dean did move where she could get to him, plopping down. Without warning though grabbed whatever metal he could to heat it, or just stick his arm into the fire for a moment and then use metal stop the bleeding.

"What the!" The Captain shouted as he tended to himself without the aid of painkillers or other medical equipment. "Are you nuts?"

Dean sucked in a number of breaths as he did that. At least not digging his nails to pierce his palm. "Usually told that, or asked it, yes. It works, and we need the supplies. I'll let it affect me when I'm dead."

"I'll be sure to let the infection know that" Rhenora retorted, trying not to have at the smell of burning human flesh again. "Doesn't that hurt?"

Aurora approached the fire as well, her one arm had been scratched by the animal’s claws when it
had gotten past her, “I’d appreciate it if you could treat these scratches as well Captain.”

"Roll up roll up, Captain PatchEmUp at your service" the Captain smiled, having a look through the remnants of the kit to see if there were any more supplies. There would be enough ointment for the both of them. Just.

"That won't be necessary, save the rest, I don't need it. Just being wrapped." Dean sighed, turning his head to look for those area's the 'dogs' got in from.

Aurora smiled as she sat the opposite side of Rhenora to House. “I wish we knew more about the plants here, there could be plants out there with medicinal or healing properties that we could put on wounds but without knowing more we can’t risk it.”

"If we didn't have a clock ticking above our heads and we were here for the long haul I would whole heartedly support learning more about the local plants. "Rhenora mused as she dressed Dean's injuries first then Aurora's. They were clean out of antiseptic and bandages. She looked at her friend with kind eyes. "I so sorry you got dragged into this, I'm sorry everyone got dragged in" she felt somehow responsible.

“It’s not your fault Captain” Aurora offered an understanding smile. “You didn’t cause this. What’s important is that we all get out of this together.”

"We will get out of this...and you will start a family and Remal and I will retire to Bajor and all will be good with the universe" Rhenora finished tended Aurora's wound and patted her friend on the shoulder. "We WILL get though this"

Aurora nodded. “I don’t plan on dying here Captain that I promise you. I have too much to live for.” She cuddled up to Savar smiling as she did so.

"Indeed. Aurora is correct Captain, we all have too much to live for. We will win this game and defeat Haldeman." Savar said firmly even as Aurora cuddled up to him.
