Mission: The Jungle
It was over, their time in the Jungle had come to an end and the people making profit from The Game had been discredited and arrested. It was time for the crew to make their way back to the Liberty - the problem was, they had no idea where their ship was or how to get back there. Haldeman had mentioned that the Liberty was in orbit, but Rhenora was still somewhat dubious.
Since the those two, and probably the others who willingly participated in this were arrested. The others were taking care of clean up. The crew locating each other to get back together. Dean decided he'd go check around to do a head count so he could report it back to the CO and XO.
Aurora was helping with the crew, her duties as Counsellor made her partially responsible for the welfare of the crew. She smiled as she greeted members of the crew, mingling and providing solace to the injured and simple warmth and friendship to the others. She was wondering how long it would be before they’d all be back aboard ship.
Rhenora visibly sagged as Haldeman and the Exec were restrained. She hated doing this to the one who had been responsible for their freedom but he still had to answer for his part in putting them in the jungle in the first place. She rested against one of the desks, taking a moment to regroup. She looked out the window to see the rest of the broadcast staff in the sandy corral. Her crew diligently watching them to ensure no escape.
All she had to do now was find a way to get their collective asses off this rock and back into space. A decent meal and a coffee wouldn't go astray either.
With Remal's help she made her way to the corral, looking for her senior staff to formulate a plan to go home.
Haldeman offered no resistance. He somehow seemed relieved to have this behind him as if an enormous weight had been lifted off his shoulders.
Down with the crew Aurora turned to look as someone pointed towards Rhenora and Remal as they stepped into the area. “Captain!” She smiled as she headed towards them, but she had to wonder where Savar was she hadn’t yet seen him.
As Rhenora and her husband walked past him, Haldeman noticed the wound on her thigh, more so he noticed her thigh. "Nice thigh" He said softly to himself.
Rhenora replied with a bemused expression but said nothing. Apparently her legs were the hot topic of discussion. With the crew doing nothing more than containing the broadcast team, they looked up when the Captain approached the high point on one of the walls.
"Alright Team - lets go home" She said simply " Bonnie - see if you can find the transporter that brought us here. Savar and Aurora, start doing a headcount to see if we're missing anyone. Anna and Sarah see to any injuries. Everyone else - just hang tight"
"Excuse me Captain." Savar stepped forward. "I took the liberty of looking at some old vids and found some that bear out what Captain Haldeman has told us."
" Really? So he was being truthful?" Rhenora asked, still not entirely believing what Haldeman had told her.
"It would appear so Captain. The person we identify as the Exec gave Captain Haldeman an ultimatum. Serve as the Game Master or his crew would all die."
"Great, so he was forced into the position." Rhenora admitted, the information clouding the already confused perception she had of the former Captain. " I think there will be some long discussions when we get back to the Liberty. Speaking of which, has Bonnie returned with a transport or communications solution?"
"I believe it would be beneficial to you to have a detailed talk with Captain Haldeman. As for Bonnie, I an not aware of any solution Captain."
" I think there will be several details talks with Haldeman" Rhenora grimaced as she considered unravelling the web of deceit that Haldeman had woven or been wound into. Her head pounded with the thought of it all and suddenly all she wanted to do was go home.
"You are undoubtedly correct Captain. I do not envy you." Savar said evenly.
Rhenora retreated to the shade of a nearby tree and sank down onto the ground, resting as there was little they could do until a transport solution could be found. Someone had raided the Broadcast kitchen and returned with boxes of food that were distributed amoungst both the crew and the staff. Rhenora grabbed one of the meal packs gratefully.
A short time later the same disconcerting transport effect deposited the crew as well as their two main prisoners back in exactly the same location aboard the Liberty as they had left. The Captain looked around bewildered, still holding the half a sandwich she had been eating. Finally this mess was over.
