Mission:
The Jungle
Location: Captain's Quarters
Captain Kaylen Rhenora vanished from the bridge of the Cardassian ship in a shimmer of blue sparkles, leaving nothing but a trail of grime and stench of slightly burnt uniform. She rematerialised in her quarters, gingerly levering her boots off and picking them up gingerly in one hand, carrying them to the bathroom with her. Everything needed a good scrub, including her boots. The uniform would need to be completely recycled but first she had to peel it off. The reeked of a combination of stress induced sweat, smoke, and filth from under the Cardassian console. Not an overly pleasant aroma by any means.
Carefully she peeled the offending fabric off, leaving it in a pile on the floor to be recycled after her shower. The undershirt was also stained and was added to the pile, even her socks stank.
The pile was left discarded as she stepped into the shower, switching it from sonic to water and from water to almost scalding hot. It was her ritual after a close shave to wash the experience away with hot water, sluicing yet another dice with death off with the discoloured water as it ran from her body. She shampooed and conditioned her hair, letting the grey blonde strands obscure her vision as she closed her eyes and turned her face upwards in a silent thank you for yet another chance at life. She contemplated on working one on one with Thomas Haldeman. The man had conducted himself with the utmost professionalism and they worked well as a team, thinking on their feet and with no hint of subterfuge or resentment. It spoke volumes for his character and who he was as a person despite his experiences and actions on the Jungle planet.
Rinsing the soap and conditioner from her body she stood for a blessed few more minute after the steaming water before turning the water off, leaving a feeling of loss as she was left standing dripping in the cool bathroom. A quick towel dry and a fresh uniform followed by a cup of coffee and felt better than she had an hour ago. It was time to tackle the last ship.
