Going up.
She just missed the Commander, whose name she didn't know yet, and Lucy entered the lift and the doors closed behind them. So she pressed the call button for another lift and waited.

When the lift arrived and the doors opened Bonnie was greeted by a tall gentleman with several worry lines upon his brow and a partially unshaven face. Upon his nose were the ridges of the Bajoran race. He also wore a decorated chain from his ear to his nose and a wedding band upon his left hand. He was carrying flowers. "Good day." He said in greeting.

Bonnie nodded and mouthed the word "yes" audible to only mouse level. She noted his flowers were unique, probably of Bajoran origin and their fragrance filled the small lift.

"Destination?" He asked her when the lift doors had remained open for too long.

"Oh, uh, Operations." She said speaking more to the lift and less towards the man. The doors closed and the lift began to move, much to her relief. Awkward silences made her queasy. Noting the aroma she commented, "Those smell nice."

"Thank you, they are her favorite, my wife that is. At least they used to be." He looked at the flowers. Bonnie could tell he was forlorn about a lost love and she began to question whether or not she should delve deeper when he answered for her. "I haven't seen her in…" he paused to count inside his head. "Well, going on 6 years now."

Shocked Bonnie mouthed "wow." Then she replied, "I'm sorry to hear that." She trusted she was sincere enough. "Is she here on the station?"

He nodded. "She was. I just missed her. I believe they just left on their shakedown cruise. Aboard the Liberty. She always was one for rushing out into the nothingness of space, while I was a down to soil family man."

This reminded Bonnie of something her father used to say. "Papa used to say ‘Marriages, like a garden, take time to grow. But the harvest for those who patiently and tenderly tend the soil, is plentiful.’ At least I think that’s how it goes, I sometimes get the words wrong.” She bashfully smiled up at his large frame.

“Well it sounds as though your father was a wise man who raised an intelligent daughter. Have you ever considered becoming a counselor?" He was sincere, his smile warm and inviting. "Remal Kajun, at your service." He held out his hand in familiar greeting.

Bonnie blushed and offered her hand, "Bonnie Durnell, I fix computers." She said while immediately realizing how silly she sounded. "I mean Computer Specialist." She stammered.

He smiled an understanding smile, "Very nice to meet you Bonnie." The doors then opened with dramatic timing saving Bonnie from herself. "Ladies first." He said ushering her out with a wave of his hand.

OFF

*Note - for those who are new or may not remember, Remal Kajun served as counselor onboard the Sunfire D and eventually married our Wiley Captain in a beautiful ceremony. Then he whisked her away on honeymoon and tried to tempt her to settle down. In time the ship and crew were a more powerful calling than her husband with a house on a beach.
He is not back per say except just to visit, so no worries about lost jobs or anything. He just misses his wife.
