Captains Log - Supplemental

Whilst I went into this mission with a very real prospect of it not being as straight forward as the brief, I had no idea just how hatred one person could harbour and for such a long period. We were supposed to come here, try and locate the colonists on the planet and strike up an arrangement with the local Cardassian government that would ensure the protect of any colonists we did find.

What actually happened was vastly different. Gul Maccet apparently wanted revenge on an incident many years ago on Bajor where he claims I killed his brother. He is correct in that there was a battle where his brother was killed and I was present. That's where it ended though. Revenge is a funny thing though, time only seems to make it stronger. Sadly he payed the ultimate price for his misguidance - falling victim to Commander Savar in an attempt to save my life. The report on that one is going to be a doozy. Unfortunately I will have to wait for Savar's version of events, he is currently under medical supervision having begun his Pon'Farr. Personally I believe this may have been to blame for such a loss of his impeccable control. Lt Vali is attempting to helping him until we can reach Vulcan. I pray he will pull through his difficult time - we need him - I need him. I need his logic and his wisdom to temper my emotion and impulse. I'm not sure I can do this without him - or Remal for that matter. I feel Remal and I will be having several deep discussions after this mission to process the events into perspective.
