Mission: Diplomatic Masquerade
Location: Diplomatic offices

{ON}

Aurora walked along the corridor of the ship, she was enroute to the diplomatic offices to visit the ship's Chief Diplomatic officer Lieutenant Drake. Apart from introducing herself she wanted to offer what help she could.

She smiled as she felt Savar's presence in her mind, they're initial bond was working as intended and it was a feeling she was enjoying immensely. As she arrived at Drake's office door she pressed the chime and waited.

T'Strella had eluded the Romulans, they were so predictable... she took a shuttle back to the ship, and to her office. She greeted Della as she entered. Picking up the work report PADD's she sat down to read and sign off on them. As she worked she was interrupted by Della, Lieutenant Drake, you have a guest."
T'Strella tapped the comm and replied, send them in."
She rose from her chair to greet them.

Walking into the office Aurora offered the traditional Vulcan hand greeting and a smile. "Lieutenant, I'm Aurora Vali the new Chief Counsellor." She put her hand down again. "I thought I'd come and introduce myself and offer any assistance I can to you."

T'Strella, returned the customary Vulcan greeting. " It is an honor to meet you, I am Lt. T'Strella Drake, Chief Diplomatic envoy. This latest Diplomatic frackar, is nothing unusual considering the parties involved. Help is appreciated.

Aurora nodded. "I have assisted in diplomatic relations before and I would happy to assist you in any way I can. May I ask where we stand at present?"

"At present we have multiple sides all with their own agendas and spies. The Romulans believe we are unaware, the Cardassians do not care and flaunt their agendas, the rest well.... they need help. How can any people survive against these strong predatory empires if they cannot muster courage to stand and fight?" She waved a hand to the comfortable guest seating and took her chair. "It never ceases to fascinate me. The way predatory races are so arrogantly bold in their lack of diplomacy.”

Aurora took a seat and made herself comfortable. “Predatory races simply don’t bother with diplomacy because they just take what they want regardless of the consequences to others.” She tucked her hair behind her pointed Vulcan ears. “They see us as nothing more than an annoyance, something to only be used if they gain something from it.”

"Would you care for a cup of tea or coffee? I prefer to steep my own tea and brew my own coffee, replicated taste of plastics and re-sequenced protein and matter." She motioned towards the tea and coffee table, complete with fine bone , Moonlight Roses tea and coffee sets."

She then continued her conversation. "One thing is certain, there are at least four deep covert intel agencies here, all with a polite yet cold diplomat coy -ness about their approach. The typical predators on young unsuspecting women and men, the dance cards reads like an old Earth mystery saga." She sipped her coffee. "My sources tell me, that an attempt already executed and failed on my life, I was not surprised, these agents reek of to much colognes and either Romulan ale or strong Cardassian Kanar...... they always give their presence away. Easily side stepped and thwarted. "

"I would love a tea please." Aurora smiled then looked at T'Strella in surprise. "You said there was an attempt on your life? Does the Captain know of this? Perhaps talks would be best held here on the ship in safety?"

T'Strella poured the tea and sat it on the table in front of Aurora. "These bumbuler's, attempted to kidnap me." She sipped her coffee and then continued. "And yes, reports sent to the Captain, via planet security. They were surprised by myself and a friend, Efron. They weren't expecting him to arrive, we quickly apprehended the two muscle men and of course, they were detained. The problem is, they are not talking. They know if they do, they will be dispatched to some deep dark place for eternity. Their attempt tells me that the leader is after information.... I am used to such a costing s, it rather comes with the position. All sides attempt to one up the other, and the side who glean s the most intel usually wins. But in this particular instance, it is different from stopping a war. This situations has more players than a Shakespeare play, all with their own plans for the lambs . "

Aurora nodded and picked up her tea, she sipped it politely holding onto the cup as she looked at T'Strella. "So what do you plan to do next? And what can I do to assist you with it?"

"At the next formal gathering, I watch body language. I also by then should have Security reports on the events from today's attempt. They will not be so bold again, they shall with clever masks attempt to veil their agendas, and yet with every greeting. They give subtle clues away. We know they are interested in artifacts that do not belong to them nor their planets. The main thing is to continue to portray the consummate Star Fleet Officer, you know their idea of the perfect Star Fleet stereo typical officer. This way we learn pieces of their plans. I had a teacher who said. "You can tell their plan by their denials, their subtle tale tale signs like when they say yes, their body language says no." She sipped her coffee, Diplomacy is like living art. And only a good officer can deduce the deception and the end road of their opponent."

"That's where I come in a little more useful, we're both Vulcan hybrids but in my case I'm half Betazoid. I study body language as you do, but I also sense feelings and can tell when I'm being lied to. I'll admit there are those are harder to read, but I can sense the emotions of most. I can be of use to you that way."

"And I have experience in the forensics of the various species involved. We also from past encounters some of the delegates. Of course they all want the planet , the ancient history etc. But, there is something else here they want extremely badly. And they are tripping over themselves to hide it. We know the Archeologists are still working and they have yet to make a firm deduction from excavations, I know from a Trill friend in the Ambassador corps. That this planet this system is rife with thieves stealing valuable artifacts for their personal gains, and yet....there is something powerful at hand. Time will tell." She sipped her tea. "Your heightened senses will pick up on a plethora of intentions, most good but a lot bad. Remember, always play it dumb..."

Aurora nodded. "I will, the upside is I don't look like a Betazoid so hopefully it'll work in our favour." She relaxed back in her seat and sipped her tea.

"One of this sectors diplomats was discussing the hijacking of two Archeological science ships, under the guise of Raiders. I listened to the discuss just how many science ships civilian registry. And the only thing these Raiders took, strange orb and obelisk ornamental items that hum and glow. Now, we know in the Denorious Belt, many similar items have been located by Bajorians. Cardassians down through the years. One thing is certain greedy people will go after rare artifacts again, and from the lineup of unscrupulous beings at this planet.....well, one can see the equations "

Aurora nodded. “Should I be required I will make sure to follow your lead.” Her comments came out in a very Vulcan manner, some of Savar’s influence coming through their initial bond.

"Yes, do not attempt anything without my knowledge, remember, some Romulans have higher esp numbers than Betazoids, due to their mingled blood with local ingenious beings on Romulus and Remus. Never let your guard down with Cardassian's, they enjoy the chase and they kill without remorse..."

Aurora nodded. “Understood. I have never encountered a Reeman before but I have heard of their abilities.”

"You are fortunate, Reman and their level of ESP, combined with their unique planetary devices geared to strengthen their telepathy and empathy is strong, dangerous and much like a Romulan mind bender, the victim seldom survive. Stay alert, stay covert and do as I do, gather proof and let Security handle the bad guys."

Aurora nodded. “I will. To be honest I didn’t realise diplomatic talks could be so dramatic! As a Counsellor I’ve advised before but not faced conditions such as these.”

"One day, I shall tell you about Systems Hades Black Orchid Obsidian Ball. A highly xenophobic system, superior Warp and Slip stream ships, and how Diplomatic relations tend to be with which Clan you support or how advanced the tech is. And how death comes to Ambassadors or others who do not keep abreast of the game. Take care of yourself . Shadows move when no one is watching. She showed Aurora to the door.

Turning back to her work, she noted several invitations from various Romulan and Cardassian gentlemen.

"Fascinating. "
