Time for a New Start

Mission: The battle's not over
Location: Spacedock

Thomas Mathews was sitting at the spacedock bar in his civilian uniform, surrounded by Starfleet personnel. It did not seem to bug him that everyone else was in the service and he was a, for lack of a better word, contractor. Would his new Captain and CMO accept him, or would he be an outcast? If he was in trouble, would a Captain risk the lives of those under his command to rescue him? Who knew, but the adventure that was Starfleet got Mr. Mathews out of his little country practice and into service. The risks would likely be worth the rewards of space travel.

His uniform was more of a business dress; it had red pants and a white shirt buttoned to the left. The Coat that went over his uniform (something like a business suit or a dress uniform) was also red, covering his shirt. On the right sleeve was a patch. The patch was round and had a medical caduceus. On the top of the patch read Starfleet Civilian Corps, and on the bottom, it read Medical Services, M.D. There was no mistake about who Thomas was; he liked it that way.

“Would you like another Klingon Bloodwine, sir?” asked the bartender.

“No, thank you, I figure I better get over to where my new command is docked and check-in.”

Thomas paid his bill and got up to leave. He knew that new adventures awaited him and, most likely, a lot more paperwork.
