Booze and Beans

Mission: *CD*
Location: Turbolift

The one thing Neriva loved after a long day on duty was a good, icy cold drink to relax. Something fruity, definitely, preferrably made with Kelpien jholaberries or, better yet, Japanese kyoho grapes. The latter was sweeter and more juicy and she could never get enough of them. As such she made her way into the turbolift and ordered it to the bar.

The car paused on the way, though, admitting a pretty Trill woman. She'd seen her a few times, once on the bridge and a few times in passing, but never gotten to say hello. And she wasn't about to waste that chance to get to know someone new. "Hello." She started.

Coy, still in uniform but off duty as they waited for something, anything exciting to happen, decided she too needed a drink if only to have some excitement. Synthohol was the only thing that would be on tap at the bar but Coy was not there just for the drink. Personal time was recon time when one sought prospective bedtime partners.

She was initially heading to her quarters when she stepped into the turbolift and was greeted by a very tall Kelpian woman, which Coy had to look up just to see into her eyes. Her eyes were a bright shade of blue reminiscent of a buffed sapphire. Coy noted the innocent way she spoke and surmised the woman was young for her species. Now there's a tall tree worth climbing. Her inner voice spoke. Coy on the other hand nodded casually, professionally, "Good evening." Sounding a bit like an old man she addressed the lift, "Computer, take me to the most populated lounge please."

Neriva brightened upon hearing that the other was heading to the lounge like her. 'The most populated lounge' was rather specific, she thought, but she thought nothing of it. Perhaps this woman was simply the social type who liked to surround herself with people, or perhaps... no, no. Can't be. Neriva shook away the somewhat darker possibility that came to mind. Everyone had their reasons and it was not her place to be the judge of that.

"Oh! You're heading to the lounge as well. We could... we could walk together if you like." She offered. Company was always welcome and new company more-so in her eyes. "My name is Neriva. I've seen you around the ship a couple of times; forgive me for not saying hello. I'm one of the new security officers."

"Coy. Pleasure to meet you." She looked Neriva up and down, "Security officer huh, well you're definitely a big enough moving target. Suppose I know who to stand behind in the case of an actual firefight." Coy grinned to show she was only joking as the lift stopped and the doors opened. Coy gestured, "After you."

Neriva smiled back, albeit a little more reservedly, and walked ahead of the Trill to the ship's lounge. "I take it you don't get into very many phaser fights." She remarked. "I don't much like them, either. I like my limbs free of scars as much as possible, and whole. And intact."

They crossed into the lounge then, and Neriva turned to face the Trill accompanying her as they sat down at the bar counter. "What would you like? I think I'll have... something fruity tonight. Something with mangoes." She quipped.

"I used to like fruity drinks, but lately they just don't give me that thrill I'm looking for." She tapped on the bar to signal she was ready to order. "I'll take an Andorian White Out with a double shot of Denobulan Whiskey." Coy said. "The lady will have, something fruity with mangoes." She said carelessly ordering for Neriva. She then turned in the stool and began people watching, one of her favorite pastimes. "So, what brings you to the Liberty?"

"Routine reassignment. I was actually hoping for an assignment that'd let me have bigger quarters. I swear, my last assignment had me sleeping somewhere no bigger than a broom closet with all the leg room I had. I got that here, at least!" The Kelpien joked. With the length of her legs (and, well, the rest of her, actually) that probably wasn't at all a surprise. "How about you, Commander? How long have you been with the Liberty?" She thanked the bartender who served their drinks and sipped at the sweet, foamy yellow drink she was given with a content smile on her face. Ah, the familiar taste of mangoes.

Coy slugged back her drink and then tapped the bar for another. She winced as it went down hot before responding, "First mission actually, on the Liberty that is. This was sort of a forced career advancement, if one could call it that." Trying not to dwell to much on herself, she knew it was better to get her companion to open up by keeping the focus on her. "So, broom closet huh. Damn shame. You won't find quarters that size on a Sovereign class. I trust you're settling in nicely then?"

"I'm settling in perfectly, thank you." Neriva settled down on the barstool and smiled as she sipped from the glass of sweet yellow liquid that'd been ordered for her. "At last I have space to stretch my legs out properly when I sleep. For us Kelpiens, leg space is often a premium as you surely know." The tiniest smile flickered over her craggy lips then. "Starfleet forgets that sometimes."

"Regardless. I am pleased to be here. The ship in its entirety has been absolutely lovely so far, and I'm looking forward to seeing what else lays in store for me moving forward."

Coy raised her glass then began scanning the room for a potential bed pal for the night. It was good meeting a new friend even if she was growing accustomed to them not sticking around very long.
