Admirals Decisions

Posted on Mon Oct 5th, 2020 @ 12:37am by Captain Rhenora Kaylen

Mission: Diplomatic Masquerade
Location: Earth

Admiral Bryson read the incoming reports with a frown clearly discernible on his ageing face. The Orias system had seen increased Cardassian activity over the last several months in a number of ways. Everything from warships to what passed on Cardassian as research and science ships were travelling to the region. By rights it was within Cardassian territory but his gut told him that something indeed was up.

"Admiral - incoming transmission from the USS Garim" His aid announced. Bryson was the commander of all ships in that region and thus was first to be informed of any unusual goings-on.

"Patch it though" He said gruffly, putting the padd he had been reading aside and turning his attention to the small viewscreen on his deck. Captain Justine Carryman appeared on the monitor and proceeded to explain unusual communications they had detected in the Orias system. It appeared Orias III, a planet the Cardassians had claimed to be uninhabited was now indeed occupied by a culture advanced enough to send a rudimentary distress call. She also advised that it appeared mining operations were beginning on said planet.

With a harrumph the Admiral closed the channel and brief the other Admirals, coming to the conclusion that they would need to intervene. They couldn't let the Cardassians wipe out yet another civilisation without at least attempting to prevent it. The only ship with an experienced Captain and full diplomatic team in the area was the USS Liberty, currently undergoing repairs at Starbase . The repairs would have to be fast-tracked and the ship dispatched ASAP. The only issue would be the ship's Captain. Kaylen was known for her experience with Cardassians, but she was also a bit of a wildcard. A chance they would have to take.

He sent a message to the Liberty - advising them of the situation and requesting they attend Orias III at their best possible speed.

All he could do now was wait.
