Mission: Healing of Minds

She pondered over the question. To say she had been dreaming was more of an overstatement, more her subconscious had been pulling apart the conversation with the Prophets into bite sized portions it thought the rest of her could deal with.

"It was more...processing I would say more than dreaming. Replaying the same portions of our orb experience over and over" she admitted.

He nodded, "As to be expected I suppose. Mine carried out about the same with a few of my own deep settled fears mixed in. Did you happen to notice there was no ground element in either the vision or your dream?" He stuck a bite of his omelette into his pie hole and savored the flavor. She was getting the hang of things in the tiny kitchenette.

She paused, running the experience again through her mind. “You’re right, there was fire and water, did we see air? I’m not sure about Earth either. The whole thing is starting to be jumbled in my head” She lamented as she sipped the coffee again.

he swallowed his bite and considered his reply. "From what I understand of the elements, the wind element is very elusive. Yet, it also exists through the others. For instance the fire element can't exist without air. Codependent you see. No I'm inclined to believe air was there with us the whole time." He admitted to himself his level of frustration was getting him down. He just couldn't get his counsellor brain to stop over analysing the whole damn situation.

She considered his explanations and nodded through a mouthful of food, following it up with a good slug of coffee that was finally starting to kick-start her brain. "There are 4 elements but they are all connected and intertwined. I wonder why the two who appeared to us were chosen? Apart from the fact that fire is generally classed as scary, and air is something you can't actually see"

He swallowed his last bite and swingged the last drop of his spiced coffee. "Five if you count the spirit of energy which touched our hearts and so rudely pushed us out."

"Acceptable breakfast?" She asked, wanting some honest feedback on her cooking attempt before they went for a stroll to soothe their troubled minds.

"Better than acceptable. My stomach is full and my tongue is happy. What else can a man ask for?" He reached over and took her hand, gave a wink and proclaimed "I'll get the dishes." And then he stood and did just that before she had a chance to argue.

She watched him clear the table with ease, knowing now was probably not the time to argue about the small stuff. Instead she switched on a padd and looked through Aurora's schedule, adding a request for a chat between the three of them for a more objective perspective on their sleepless night and the cause behind it. By the time she was done the dishes were done.

"Care for a stroll?" She asked, feeling a little restless.

He finished drying his hands and looked her way, "Ready when you are." And he held out his arm as a gentleman should.

" For you, I'm always ready" she whispered, her breath tickling his ear as she gave him a peck on the cheek. Looping her arm through his they headed for the doors, the corridors relatively quiet at this early hour.

In the corridor, empty or not, Remal knew his station. He was the Captains husband and confidant. He maintained a regal posture as they walked to show any who saw them that he was her rock and support but she clearly wore the pants, or at least the uniform, in their relationship. He kept chatter to a minimum, just in case. Afterall what goes on in the captain's quarters was known by only Rhenora, Remal and probably Ronson.

The stroll was peaceful, Rhenora leading them to the arboretum, filled with spectacular colour as the plants of many different worlds were in bloom at the moment. She paused here, taking in the serenity and colour, resting her mind from continually going over the same thing. She remained a while there where she thought she’d go mad if it rehashed the Fire Prophet again. Her mind was trying to make sense of a situation that was nonsensical. Success was never going to be in full.

Recirculated air wafted gently through the large space. She enjoyed this space and was delighted to have one on the Liberty. Her previous command - the USS Sunfire had been a Defiant class and before that an Intrepid class. Neither had the space for luxuries. This however, was beautiful and restful.

"A man could really get used to this. Getting his hands down in the dirt is so therapeutic." He sighed. "I mean who needs a planet when you can create one on a ship?" He marveled at the beauty, the greens and browns making him long for home. "So, you have a full schedule today and I don't want to keep you too long."

She sighed, he was right as always. 0600 hours was rapidly approaching and the day looked to be busy.

“I always have time for you - you know that right?” She asked, her voice a little hesitant. Was she meeting all of his needs? Was he feeling needed and wanted?

"I do." He replied with a tone reminiscent of the day he recited his vows. "And my door is always open for you should you need me." He wondered what she was possibly afraid of and how her faith still remained so strong despite being shook. All he knew was that he would be there should she need him, for as long as she needed him. "Now go save the galaxy, again. I'll stay here and get my hands dirty." He gleefully said while rubbing his hands together.

“Alright my love” taking a moment to wrap her arms around him and kiss him deeply, as though her very soul depended on it. She rose, the mantle of command making its way across her features and her stance - changing them ever so slightly. She left her love pottering happily in the ship's gardens, thankful that he was content. With a deep breath she turned and headed for the bridge.
