Bridge Chat

Mission: Healing of Minds

Captain Kaylen Rhenora was on the bridge, the away team were on the planet rounding up the person responsible for the telepathic attacks and the Liberty was settled into her lower orbit, sensors still searching for any further indication of psionic waves emanating from the planet below. For now - the bridge was calm.

She turned to her XO, realising she hadn't had the opportunity to thank him for his efforts in saving his wife's life.

"Commander, I just wanted to thank you for your work in Sickbay - Dr Thesis tells me you were instrumental in saving Aurora's life" She said quietly, keeping the conversation between then casual.

Savar looked at her, confusion on his face. "Why would you thank me? Aurora is a most talented and gifted counselor and I was doing what was necessary and logical." He replied in a equally quiet tone.

"You went above and beyond the call of duty, as your Captain and as your friend I just wanted to acknowledge that" Rhenora said honestly " I will be placing a commendation in your record as well. You could have died if the meld had gone wrong"

Savar nodded. "Then as your executive officer and as your friend as well. You are most welcome. I would have been sadden greatly if something had happened to Aurora. The risk was worth taking." He pointed out.

"It always is with a loved one" Rhenora mused, recalling the times she and Remal had toed that line for each other. Sadly it had been a number of times over the years they had nearly walked the path to the Prophets. "Sadly a life in space doesn't tend to bode well for the universal safety of said loved ones. But then again, this is what we signed up for - exploration and all the other things Starfleet throws our way"

"Indeed, you are quite correct Captain. I would include a friend in that statement as well." Savar answered. "For our lives would be much less enjoyable and full if our friends were not a part of it." Savar observed. "I know my life would be if Aurora was not in it....or you."

" Space can be very lonely. For several years Remal and I were apart - they were the loneliest years of my life" Rhenora recalled, the twang in her heart a reminder of sad times. "I feel blessed he is able to come with us now. Although my concern is that something is coming. We shared an experience with an Orb a few nights ago - the premonition was not good"

"An experience as in a vision Captain? If so, is there anything I can do to help you with understanding or making sense of it?" Savar asked.

"Possibly - I have booked time with Aurora later today if she was feeling up to it, but I would appreciate your expertise as well" the Captain admitted, unable to shake the rattled feeling that had plagued her since the Orb. "It was a vision brought on by the Orb of the Elements, we uncovered it a few days ago in a Market on the planet" she started

"I am sure Aurora will be up to the task Captain especially seeing as it is you who is making the request. I would be honored to help you any way I can." He continued. "What was this vision about?" He inquired.

" It was very dark" Rhenora admitted, recalling the event in her mind " Remal and I were surrounded by white, and the Prophets took Remal's form - almost mocking him. There was a fire elemantal, and a water elemental. They warned of a great challenge coming"

"I see." Savar said. "This challenge was there any indication of what it would pertain to or who it would involve?" Savar asked "For a challenge could be directed at you but involve a member of the crew."

" Ambiguous would be an understatement" Rhenora sighed, rubbing the bridge of her nose. "I'm hoping yourself and Aurora could shed some light on it. I've given myself insomnia trying to figure it out"

"Aurora and I will do our best to help you to understand the vision along with relieving your insomnia." Savar replied with his usual candor.

" I appreciate that, it always helps to have a different perspective on things. It could be my mind is just over complicating things - once again. " She sighed, wishing nothing more than to have avoided the Orb in the first place. Still - it was a relic of Bajor and would be returned there next time the Liberty was in the area.

"Different minds often bring different perspectives and can and often do yield positive results. I have every confidence the same will happen here." Savar offered his friend and CO.

The conversation was interrupted by a call from the surface from the away team notifying them that the perpetrator had been captured and was ready for beam up. The Captain switched her attention back to the matter at hand, comforted by the fact that Savar would be dissecting her experience later in the day.
