Roast Duck

Posted on Fri Jan 1st, 2021 @ 11:06pm by Lieutenant Anna S. Thesia M.D. & Lieutenant Jessica Holland

Mission: Healing of Minds
Location: Anna's Cabin

The following afternoon, after her shift, Anna spent working on her costume. She already had the general idea for the dress, but she had to overlay the pattern of a duck's plumage onto it in a way that wouldn't look too odd, careful to have the wings represented on the sleeves of the dress.

The silliest piece was the bill, which came in the shape of a cap she could wear, leaving her face free. And she had to get a stool instead of a chair, as the huge, replicated feathers on her butt needed to go somewhere when she sat down. But with all of that done, Anna was fairly happy with the result. She added a set of heels that also looked like little mallards, and thus her outfit was complete.

The dinner now sitting on two plates, kept warm from beneath, Anna waited for Jessica to show up, and prepared to be wowed by Jessica's outfit, as well as to be laughed at extensively before Jessica was even through the door.

Jessica was impatient the whole day, she couldn't wait to see Anna again. She had taken an immediate liking to the Doctor and her special brand of humor. So when the appropriate time drew near, she put on her leopard costume, checked herself out in the mirror, was satisfied with how she looked and headed to Anna's quarters. She couldn't wait to see Anna's duck costume.

Arriving at Anna's quarters, Jessica was to ring the chime and await both entrance and to be wowed by Anna's costume.

Before Jessica could ring the bell, Anna opened the door, alerted by a proximity alarm she had set for Jessica's arrival with the ever obliging computer. "Quack!" she greeted.

Jessica stared at her, her eyes going everywhere at once as she took the costume in. "Oh wow Anna! That is great, let me come in so I can get a better look."

"I'm so going to use this for a costume ball, if we ever have one", Anna grinned. There were so many feathers all over her dress, it would certainly keep her warm.

She stepped out of the way to let Jessica in, asking, "Have you had many people stare at you on your way here? I mean, all I can say is 'Meow!'"

"A few. So I meowed and winked at them." Jessica admitted as she came into Anna's quarters, "Turn girl turn. Shake those tail feathers."

Anna happily complied, lifting up her skirt only to reveal her butt covered in down feathers. "The full Monty, obviously."

"Ohhhh! I like it, nice pattern Anna. You did an excellent job with your costume." Jessica commented.

"You should have seen me dressed as a cocoa tree a few days ago", Anna giggled, putting her arm around Jessica's back to lead her over to where she had their food set up. "And I sure hope you brought an appetite."

"A cocoa tree? Why were you dressed as a cocoa tree? And I sure did! It smells delicious! I can't wait to try it."

"To say thank you to our computer systems specialist, who helped me fix the EMH", Anna said. "She didn't like my tea, said she preferred hot chocolate, and so that's what it came in." She paused, then added, "Don't think I'm crazy just for you."

"Ah." Jessica replied. "I see and I don't. Though I hoped she appreciated your effort. I know your crazy is equal opportunity."

"I don't know, maybe, maybe not", Anna shrugged. "She might just think I'm weird. But that's okay." She pulled out the chair for Jessica. "Why don't you take a seat, my spotted friend?"

"It's her loss Anna." Jessica pointed out as she went to sit down. "Thank you my pretty little water fowl."

Anna sat down opposite her guest and opened the lid on her plate, encouraging Jessica to do the same. Next to the meat, there were fried potatoes, peas and onions. A classic dish, no doubt, but made with love.

Jessica sat down, removed the lid on her plate, closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. "Oh Anna!" She moaned. "You have outdone yourself."

"Thank you very much. I've used traditional Terran herbs, so this dish is as authentic as possible." She then produced a bottle of red wine, pouring Jessica's glass, then her own.

"Wine too?" Jessica smirked. "Why Anna, are you planning on getting me drunk?" She giggled.

"Do you think that would be beneficial?" Anna wondered.

"I guess you're just going to have to try and find out." Jessica replied with a smile.

"I'm also expecting you to be able to handle a glass or two", Anna smirked. She raised hers and said, "To a fantastic ducking evening."

"Oh don't worry about me Anna darling. I can handle my wine." Jessica quipped. She raised her glass in a salute to her hostess. "Agreed."

Anna started on the food. "I'm not worried. What's the worst that could happen?" she asked.

Jessica didn't reply just smiled and like Anna started on her food.

"Okay, keep your secrets", Anna laughed. She was getting a feel for what to expect from Jessica.

"Okay." Jessica grinned at Anna as she put a helping of duck in her mouth and chewed. "Yum." She announced after swallowing. "Delicious."

"Thank you", Anna said, glad her guest was enjoying the food. "So tell me, other than stalking waterfowl, what is it you do in your spare time?"

Jessica looked at her over the wine glass. "I like to read and....I like to dance. I also like to go camping and be outdoors. What about you Doctor?"

"All of those", Anna smiled. "Fantasy novels, historical fiction, classic literature. Though I often use audio books, to listen to while I'm exercising."

"We should book a camping trip to someplace out of the way, what do you think?"

"I'm afraid the furthest away we're going to see for a while is the inside of a holodeck", Anna smirked. "But we could do a lot worse than that, no?"

Jessica pouted, "I guess we can do that for now but...." She brightened up, "I'm still counting on us going on a real camping trip."

"A lovely thought", Anna agreed. "And dressed like this, the animals will think we belong there." She ate some of the fried potatoes. "I hope you like skinny-dipping."

"Been a long time since I've done that, I was a kid. But I liked it then, I'm sure I'd like it now, especially with the sights I can see." She said smiling at Anna.

Anna snickered. "I like to please." She stretched out her leg under the table, her foot touching Jessica's calf. "But I'm not easy to control."

Jessica closed her eyes as Anna's foot touched her calf. When her eyes opened she was giving Anna a sultry look. "A pair of security cuffs will take care of that." She mused.

"Promises, promises", Anna giggled.

"Indeed Doctor. Then I can preform my own exam." Jessica countered with a sly smile.

"Oh, and what makes you think I'll tell you what you want to know this easily?" Anna asked.

"Oh you will." Jessica replied confidently, "Or I'll tickle you until you do."

"Oh, the horror! Tickling! You monster!" Anna laughed.

Jessica smiled. "You have no idea." She replied between bites of duck.

Anna was beginning to wonder what she had got herself into. She took a sip of the wine and looked at Jessica's face. "I have a feeling I might soon have one."

Jessica laughed, "Nothing sinister Anna, I promise you that. You really have nothing to be afraid of except tickling." She finished taking a sip of her wine.

"Who said I was afraid?" Anna asked. "Well, of nothing except the tickling, I guess."

"Of course Anna." Jessica replied sweetly. "Nothing to be afraid of, just being bound and tickled possibly while being au naturel. Perfectly harmless."

Anna bit her lower lip. "It's a good start", she agreed. This was promising.

"Of course Anna. Start slow, let you simmer for a while while stoking the fire." Jessica answered.

"Yes, that's how you roast a duck", Anna agreed. "I see you've got some experience there."

Jessica nodded, looked at her costume. "I am a predator." She agreed.

Anna finished her meal but remained seated. "Just be aware, ducks can fly." She figured she had a few tricks up her sleeve which Jessica might find surprising.

"I certainly hope so Anna, otherwise it would be boring. Cats like a challenge after all." Jessica replied with a grin.

Anna refilled their glasses. "What challenges have you mastered on your way here, then?" she asked. "You know, just so I know what not to do, as you've done it before."

"Now Anna, that would be telling." Jessica chuckled, "You're just going to have to try all your tricks to see what works."

With her meal finished, Anna leaned forward and smiled. "Come on, dear. Do tell me a bit about yourself."

Jessica just smiled and finished off her wine.

"You're the interrogator, and never volunteer anything, is that right?" Anna chuckled.

Jessica winked and replied "Bingo."

Anna stood and came around the table, extending her hand to Jessica. "I just hope you'll find what I can tell you as fascinating as I shall find you getting it out of me."
