Mission:
Welcome Aboard!
Location: Starbase 234
Timeline: Current
Going Down.
Minutes later Bonnie entered the incarceration area, her personnel bag still tossed over her shoulder. Her mind fixated on the problem or multitude of problems as it were, an unwavering, jumbled, focus. She waved the security guard away when he attempted to ask her how he could help her. Instead, she walked right on past and up to Cody’s cell, then right on past that as well.
A moment later she walked passed again, going in the opposite direction. Cody eyed her with curiosity as he watched her do this two more times, just pacing madly. She was amusing to watch, her body language speaking volumes. Finally on the third trip passed he decided to break her attention as she was starting to make him dizzy. “Settle down lass and tell ole Cody what has you cross?”
She stopped mid-pace, his voice bringing her out and back to normalcy if only for a moment. Poor Cody though wasn’t prepared for the bombardment he received. She unleashed “TheCommandersaid to SIT STILL, butIcan’tdothatknowingIcould beout therehelping, instead i’mstuckherewaiting, thinking. Andthengetthis, thisisaproblem I CAN HELP WITH, I think. StupidPirates.” She spoke so fast her words bled together.
“Breath darlin’...” Cody started, but his voice brought with it another torrent.
“Oh and get this, he’s reneged on giving you a shuttle, something you deserve, that was my fault. Why did I have to leave.” She began an argument with herself. “If I had never left then none of this would ever happen, I mean the ship being boarded or whatever wasn’t my fault, was it? Wasn’t it? I don’t know. I can’t decide if me being on the ship would have been a good thing or a bad thing knowing I probably would have broken. I mean the Vulcan, wait, there was no Vulcan in my personnel report.” She looked directly at Cody. “Why was there no Vulcan in my personnel report?”
He simply shrugged, though he was standing now, his own anger filling him, but his concern for the frazzled state of Bonnie reigning him in.
“OH and get this. That trolip with the Red hair and green skin was there, watching. She didn’t say a word, but there was definitely something odd about her… and the conversation that Commander Huntley seemed to be having with her. I noticed he kept looking at her like she was controlling him or something, it was weird.”
Cody eyed her questioningly, “You mean Lucy?”
“Yes, what did you see in her?”
Before he could answer a phaser blast hit the security guard square in the chest. From behind the bulkhead stepped Lucy, type IV phaser in hand. She moved slowly across the floor, taking aim at Bonnie’s back. “Yes Cody, what ever did you see in me?” She asked in a sultry voice as she bent down and checked the vitals of the security guard.
Bonnie started to turn but Lucy stopped her, “Eh, nothing stupid little girl. Back away from the cell, nice and slow. You and me, we’re going to take a little trip.”
Cody, unphased by the idea of the phaser since he was behind a force field, challenged Lucy with his words. “I don’t quite remember. Perhaps you could come in here and remind me.” He smiled his crooked smile. “That is if you’re brave enough.”
She waved the phaser around a bit, “Oh you’d like that, wouldn’t you? You’re a loser now if you ever were one Cody Devilrall. What makes you think I’m stupid enough to release you?”
“Well, ya did date me.” He retorted.
“You’re right. I should lower this grid and shoot you right here and now.”
Bonnie in an effort to stop that from happening spoke up, “Leave Cody alone. It’s me you want right? What do you want from me?” Bonnie was still eyeing Cody while trying to remain strong. He gave her a look in an effort to get her to stall Lucy, but Bonnie didn’t understand his facial twitches.
“Turn around.” Lucy stated firmly. Bonnie slowly complied. “You can break the encryption, yes?” Bonnie nodded. “Then you will come with me. Now.” She motioned the phaser towards the door. Bonnie’s feet remained stubbornly and firmly planted.
“Not without Cody.” she mouthed softly.
“What was that?” Lucy mused.
“Not without Cody,” Bonnie said louder, more defiantly.
“And why would I do that?”
Cody, wisening up behind Bonnie, spoke softly. “Don’t do this Lass.”
“Because.” Her voice was shaky. “I won’t leave without him and I’m guessing you need me to come willingly.”
“Carrying you to the docking port is not ideal, but why? Why him? What is he to you?”
“Pilot. I owe him a shuttle and he promised to get me to the Liberty.” Bonnie said in all earnest.
“Lass.” Cody realized Bonnie was putting her life on the line for his. With a lump in his throat, he spoke to Lucy. “Tis’ true. I did make a promise.”
Lucy laughed, “Yeah well we know how well you keep promises don’t we.” But she was at an impasse. On one hand she could shoot Bonnie and carry her to the transport hanger, but on the other she would have to contend with two people instead of one, not ideal. Although, she thought, maybe she could find an opportunity later to have Cody all to herself where she could return the knife he stabbed her in the back with.
She pressed the button on the console, deactivating the brig cell door. “Move, both of you.” She motioned for the door again.
Bonnie was still frozen, until Cody took her by the waist and ushered her away. His touch was comforting, secure and confident. Starfleet’’s finest, she berated herself, frozen by a phaser at the hand of a pissed off girlfriend.
Remal was watching as they emerged from the Brig. He was waiting for an opportunity to catch them off guard. So far, nothing had presented itself. So he waited until they rounded the corner and continued to follow.
