Prep for interrogation... and sleep...

[Deck 7 - Sickbay]

Kell whizzed into sickbay, feeling the pressures already and the ship hadn't even departed DS9!! She had yet to visit her quarters even, or verify her things actually made it onboard!

"I'm so gonna get fired." She mumbled to herself as she crossed, taking note of who was working as she did so. 'Faith,' she told herself, consciously calming herself. Tom'w morning, staff meeting... More than the informal individual meet-n-greets she'd accomplished thus far.

Sitting down at her empty desk she set her valise to the side for now. Rolling her forearm forward to face her she started typing search terms in general, then planned to narrow those down to specifics on this particular Cardassian.

An hour later she was readily familiar with their racial biological peculiarities, and what small bits she could pull for one Kellan R'nam, at large. The man apparently lived a rough life... a few visits for medical aid, only one truly serious. If that left a scar, it might be a visual identifier, as well as her scanner could now be programmed to look for that aberration inside as well.

The history was definitely spotty, so she started cross-referencing more detailed molecular queues like DNA and such. That took a lot longer, and she was trying to keep any hits on the down-low, so she took her time. She had the basics she needed to know if they suddenly brought him in, but she wanted to know more, plus she needed to get the medical scanner in place before that.

Since her last searches would crunch away for a while, she exited her office and called one of her team over to show her where various equipment was stored. She didn't want to let on what she wanted specific things for at this point, but kept it general in nature and mixed in a little small talk in the process.

As the on-duty team went about their day, she bagged up some items, working out what she needed, and logged 'em to her confidential files for now.

She'd have to see how and where she could install the equipment so that would occupy her time while her search routine was sifting through the enormous amount of data required.

[Deck 20 - High Security Brig]

She wondered if the turbolift would just keep going. She'd yet to go more than a half dozen decks thus far, so this was a long trip by comparison. Rolling forward and back on the balls of her feet she had the urge to hum, but refrained... barely. The last time she'd broken out the dance moves, she'd discovered shortly after that there are cameras in the lifts. oops...

Finally the lift slowed to a stop and the doors whisked open. She stepped out with a glance at her forearm PADD and turned in the direction of the brig. She noted it was pretty quiet here, and she didn't encounter anyone until she got to the security entrance.

"Must be a good idea not to have potential hostages for any high risk perps that would be brought here," she said quietly to herself, snickering ever so slightly at her use of _perp_. Dang those crime drama novellas.

She chimed the door, not surprised when it didn't just open up as she faced it.

/\"State your purpose."/\

Kell looked around. "Is that you god?"

/\"This is a secure area, state your purpose or promptly exit the area."/\

Kell suppressed a smile, hiding it behind her fingers. "Apologies. It's been a long day. I'm Dr Asaa. I'm here to inspect the cell marked for an incoming individual's incarceration and subsequent interrogation." She wasn't sure who was privy to the details but she figured the less revealed the better.

It took a few seconds but the door beeped and shooshed open to reveal in inner foyer with two security personnel that didn't look amused at her earlier attempt at levity.

One rose from his position behind counter, no doubt hardened for protection, and came around. He indicated a door to one side and it opened as they neared it. Everything appeared to be segregated so that movement was controlled; anyone escaping certainly wouldn't get far.

Stopping two sections in he again indicated a door, which opened as if on queue. He remained outside as she stepped in, looking around. Over her shoulder she asked, "I'm guessing the panels in here are fused and energized against tampering? I need to get behind one or two."

"Yes sir." He paused, as if communicating with someone. "You may use this to disengage a particular panel now." He handed her what looked like a disc with a nub of a handle. She reached over and touched it to a random panel, feeling it adhere to the surface. When she tugged on it, the panel peeled away.

Nodding she pushed it back in place, making sure it fit correctly, and when she pulled back, just the disc came away from the panel. "Thanks..."

She examined several panels, checking the spaces in and around the single, solid form bunk where the Cardassian would likely be for the questioning. She'd brought two scanners with her, just in case one was discovered, or the agent had some means of disabling or fooling it, the add'l scanner would have another angle of monitoring, giving her comparative data to review. Not to mention the scanner that she'd be holding in order to give anyone something normal to focus on rather than the possibility of hidden equipment. And she could continue to monitor the patient, if it came to that, from the remote equipment as well.

Finally satisfied with her placement, and positive testing of the equipment, she invited her escort in to confirm the panels were all in solidly in place and the cell would be properly secure once again.

With both of them satisfied, she felt better that she was well prepared for whenever they brought R'nam in. Now she could sleep without worrying she'd have to scramble to get ahead of them, or worse, not being notified until they had him in place.

The exit was just as regimented and she was glad they took this type of security seriously. While she certainly hoped they didn't need it, it was a comfort to know it already existed and not something that had to be figured out on the fly from a standard cell layout.

Waving goodbye and telling them thanks for the assist, she headed out into the corridor; her bag much lighter, as well as her workload. As she walked she reviewed her notes to the Captain, advising she would meet with him tom'w at his convenience as he'd asked at the mission briefing. She should have a few more details, just in case, by then.

[Deck 8 - Officer's Quarters]

Kell stepped into her new room... Her room. Hers. She had her own office, now she had her own quarters. No roommates, no sharing everything... She just had to stand still for a moment and enjoy the quiet, the lack of strange smells, no other presence. Wow, she could so easily center her calm here!

Gazing about the cabin, she liked the basic layout. Simple, practical. Fresher over there, basic items already stocked. She'd already noticed her two crates, just waiting for her to put her things away, which obviously wouldn't take long.

She always wondered what she'd do when she had somewhere private to display... things. Most of her previous roommates had exercised little control when it came to decorating their space. One or two, Vulcans of course, remained spartan, but the rest... whew... again she could appreciate the little extras of this posting.

After a few minutes, her things put away, she asked the computer for an early morning wakeup call. She would check out the recreation deck or the holodeck just below on Deck 9, and find a place to run, then meditate. Plus she wanted to meet with the overnight shift before they left sickbay. For now, a quick walk through the fresher and she could catch some zz's... pleasant dreams awaited...
