Having apologised to Savar, Aurora made her way to Sickbay to see Anna and have her wrists treated. Walking into Sickbay she offered a polite smile as she approached Anna.
"I'm sorry I put you on the spot like that", Anna said as she was close enough to Aurora to speak softly with her. "I am not used to sexual activity being cause for embarrassment. You can always come to me quietly and I won't breathe a word about what bruises I treat on you, I swear."
“There won’t be any more” Aurora offered a smile. “I pushed Savar past his limits in trying to make let loose, I know now how serious that was for him. He almost lost his emotional control, for a Vulcan that’s dangerous. I never told him about my bruises until now, so I’d like to get rid of them now.”
"He has to let go sometimes", Anna said, retrieving a dermal regenerator from her medkit. "I won't judge. In fact I'm happy for you having had such a great honeymoon."
“Thank you.” Aurora grinned. “It was ... the most magical, romantic and life changing time!” She reigned in her enthusiasm so she didn’t go overboard. “I wish I’d bonded with Savar years ago. As for Savar, there are certain barriers of emotion that a logical Vulcan cannot cross without risking his own sanity. As much as I say Savar would never hurt me, in that state of mind he could very well kill me. So you see why that must never happen.”
Anna frowned. "You're saying there are worse states than pon farr?" she wondered. She had always thought this was the time that Vulcans had to temporarily lose their minds, just so they can be sane and collected for the rest of their lives. "I was not aware of that." She started treating the wounds.
“I pushed Savar way past Pon’farr and I shouldn’t have.” Aurora sighed. “In future I will endeavour to keep a level head when enjoying Savar’s err ... company.”
"It spoils some of the fun, but it might be a good idea", Anna nodded. "Like I said recently, I had this Klingon girlfriend during the war, and I had to remind her occasionally that I'm not indestructible."
Aurora nodded. “To be honest I don’t know where this drive has come from, maybe it’s just me letting loose knowing I can’t conceive.” She shrugged her shoulders.
"You're not thinking you're any less of a woman because if it, are you?" Anna asked. "I mean, you can conceive. You just need a little help. And it has absolutely no impact on whether you'd be a great mother or not."
Aurora frowned. “I ...” She paused to do a little soul searching. “I guess ... maybe I do feel a little that way.” She sighed. “I know we weren’t planning a family anytime soon and Savar has been more than understanding, but I want to be able to carry a baby. To have our baby growing inside me like other women do.”
"And you can", Anna said. "It doesn't even take a lot of work, medically speaking. I could do it in an afternoon." She didn't know whether that would help any, as some people were rather enamoured with the idea of doing it all the 'natural' way. But then, hybridisation of species who share only an ancient seed as common evolutionary history was never natural to begin with.
“I wish I could jump at that chance now!” Aurora looked at Anna almost longingly. “But I don’t think Savar would be very pleased about it.”
"Well, that's definitely something you need to agree to do", Anna said. "I can't just take his genetic information and make you pregnant without his consent, you understand?"
“Of course” Aurora nodded. “I wouldn’t ask you to do that.”
"You could treat this as an advantage", Anna offered. "Not everyone gets to plan the perfect moment for a pregnancy. You can make sure it'll fit into your careers well. It's likely we won't see another severe military event for some time now. Skirmishes perhaps, but the only ones we'll really have to worry about are the Borg. And if they come, no other planning matters. Now might be a good time."
Aurora nodded. “I’m not sure Savar would agree, he wanted some time for it to be just us for a while.” She shrugged her shoulders.
"That I can't give you any input on, of course", Anna said. "Tell me, if our positions were reversed, what advice would you give me as counsellor?"
“I guess I’d be telling you to talk to your husband about it” Aurora smiled. “If only to make your feelings known.”
"So are you going to follow your own advice, counsellor?" Anna asked as she put the regenerator back into her medkit.
Aurora nodded. “I will talk to Savar, and thank you for your help Anna.”
"You're welcome, always", Anna smiled. "I hope Savar understands how lucky he is."
“He does, he’s always telling me so.” Aurora grinned. “I’m a lucky woman too.”
Anna smiled. Though she didn't know Savar enough to agree with her, she was glad the two of them were hitting it off so well despite it being an arranged marriage... or bonding. To her, those were two different terms for the same thing.
“Am I good to go?” Aurora looked at Anna.
"Yes, of course", Anna said. "I'm sure you've got people to do and places to be." She winked.
“Reports to read and our quarters to sort” Aurora smiled before heading for the doors. “I’ll see you around Anna.”
