Thesia M.D. & Lieutenant Matthew Brown & Lieutenant Freya Savette & Lieutenant T'Strella Drake & Lieutenant Cale Llewellyn DSci

Mission: Discovering by changes
Location: Conference Room
Timeline: Current.

Thomo sat in the main chair within the Conference Room. He admitted to himself it felt odd, normally he'd be sitting in the right hand one, to the side of Ghost, but, after a meeting wth the Admiralty he now found that he sat there.

Brushing these thoughts to the side, he tapped his COMM badge and said "All Senior Staff please report to the Conference Room immediately, Thomson out."

A battered and bruised Ghost arrived, with help from Brianna she made it to the chair to Thomo's right. "Thank you Brianna you are a big help,"she said. Brianna sat next to her former captain making sure Ghost was ok.

Thomo saw that Ghost had come into the room. Standing up, he watched as his friend made her way slowly, with help, to her seat. Once she was seated, he himself sat down and gave her a reassuring 'glad you're able to be here' nod.

Freya was next in the door, offering a warm smile to all present as she moved around to an empty seat. She knew not to ask silly questions so she saved her curiosity for the meeting.

T'Strella Drake, changed into a fresh uniform, pilted her hair high atop her head. Applied a strawberry lip stain.. touched up her minimal eye make up and then picked up her PAdD, making her way to the Senior Officers briefing.

She sat quietly, a relatively quiet and unassuming person....... She had brought spice tea with her to sip during the brief...

The large form of Tyroh Vantic strode into the conference room, the dark cloud hanging over him perhaps dimming the atmosphere as he did so. To say that the security chief was in a foul mood might be understating his true emotional state. To have what happened to the Liberty, and her Captain, on his watch was, frankly, infuriating. The Angosian was determined, perhaps beyond measure, to find out who was responsible and bring them to justice.

Tag Senior Staff arriving

Thomo looked at the assembled officers around the table. What he was about to say would doubtless come as a surprise to them, however, he knew they were professional and would take it in their stride.

"Thank you all for coming so swiftly, I'll get this briefing started" he began.

"Recent events onboard have brought us back to DS9 as you're all aware" and at this point he looked at Ghost "we're very grateful that there were no deaths caused by the explosion, however, this is partly why I've called you here. Preliminary investigations into the explosion have shown that it was triggered by the opening of a message that was sent to Commander Shannon. It's also been discovered that the device was hidden behind the bulkhead at the back of the room. Fragments of the device have been analysed and their composition narrowed down to explosives used by the Dominion during the recent war. We don't know how they got onboard or who brought it in, that's what we've got to figure out. However, there's something else I have to inform you of first.
Prior to the Liberty setting out on our previous for the Gamma Quadrant, Commander Shannon had been given temporary command of the ship. As per regulations, with the CO incapacitated, it fell to me to step up to temporary CO and send a report to Starfleet HQ. The Admiralty immediately got back to me, and once Commander Shannon was well enough to take a meeting, 'we' "and he gestured to Ghost and himself " and the Admiralty had a discussion about the future Command structure of the Liberty going forward. Commander Shannon feels that, currently, due to her injuries, she wished to step back from Command of this ship to her previous role as Executive Officer. The Admiralty agreed, and has given myself a field promotion to Captain. The Commander and myself are happy with this arrangement and feel that it won't impact on the structure of the Command Team as essentially it remains the same."

He pause for a moment, then began again "Our primary goal at the moment is to try and find out who brought this explosive device onboard and how. The why will most likely become more apparent once we figure out the who and how. Now, I like to think that we all work as a team here, so I'd like to open up the meeting to all discussions and questions as to how we figure this out."

Freya sat a little stunned by events. “Do we have any record of who has accessed that particular room? If there’s a record it would give us something to go on.”

"We can check the computer for that information and also visual recordings. Once we have that we can run a diagnostic to see if the logs have been tampered with Lieutenant" Thomo replied, looking at Freya "I'd like you to then have a talk with anyone who was in there, see what you get from them in regards to them being open and honest or furtive, possibly even trying to hide anything."

Vantic leaned forward, scowling a little, and laced the fingers of his hands on the table before him. He cleared his throat, indicating to the others that he was about to speak.

"I have my people scouring all visual and sensory records as we speak," the security chief began. "As well, analysis of the explosive device continues. Perhaps there is still more there for us to uncover. However, and with all due respect to our Second Officer, I would still prefer to be present in regards to any questioning that may occur with any potential suspects. Unless you feel my efforts are better served elsewhere?"

Tyroh wasn't hurt, not in the slightest. He was still relatively new to this crew and he understood, completely, if the newly-minted Captain might have reservations about a security chief who had - essentially - allowed something like the near-tragic event that almost took the life of the former captain.

Freya offered Vantic a polite smile. “We can work together on this Commander, my empathic senses will come in useful if you should need to speak to anyone.”

Turning to the Chief of Security, Thomo replied "Commander Vantic, you ask me if it's pertinant to be part of anything I order, you don't just make forced suggestions, am I perfectly clear, there could be specific reasons why I make the decisions I do, and Lieutenant Ross, that goes for you as well. I have no idea how your previous Captain did things, but I'm not them, are we clear on that?""

Standing gingerly, with Brianna's help, Ghost cleared her throat. "Now is not the time to second guess each other. We each have a job to do and I know you will all do your jobs for the captain as if I still were in the center seat. He trust's you and I trust him with my life. He will never let you down or steer you wrong. I will do my best as your XO in the coming days as I always have tried to do," she said as she sat back down again with help.

Freya turned towards Thorno. “With all due respect, it wasn’t my intention to put forward a suggestion that was inappropriate. I was simply offering my help.”

Diplomatic Officer T'Strella Drake, cleared her throat raised her hand and said politely ; "Captain, I realize my department is not much help, but one thing I understand. This crew works well under extreme pressure, we've faced similar circumstances before and we are here.

Is this mission any different from past events?

How do we proceed? Remaining focused on goals , we are well trained in our respective fields . "

She nodded and sat back into her chair again..

A sudden beep of a computer panel shattered the sudden silence. A message from Starfleet, "Cmdr. Sandy Thompson, you are to hereby return to Starfleet command for debriefing. Capt. Sandy Shannon has been returned to command status".

The word shock somehow did not describe this turn of events. Sandy showed little or no emotion as he stood, nodded, and left the room.

After dismissing the rest of her staff, Sandy just sat there still in shock and wondered if the Liberty was given a shot of bad luck. Just then her computer beeped and opening it up the news was not a happy one. Return to DS9 for crew changes and most notable a first officer.

End
