Mission: New Horizons
Location: Forward Lounge/Officers Mess
Timeline: Current

Kaylia smiled lightly, "The conversation, how it's going to go. It can be an indicator of how they will work together."

Westlake tuned in to several conversations, for the most part they were amicable. "I don't think we have anything to worry about in that regard" she concluded as she looked back towards the Captain.

Damon entered the lounge after a sort of long day. He had various meetings with new members of his security team and other rounds he had to make that were a part of his duties. Regardless, he was off the clock now, but as the Liberty's Second Officer, he felt that he had a duty to be at the change of command.

She was now three drinks in and the conversations she had come to listen to and observe were starting to fade from her mind. Focus was blurring but this was the pre-drunk hump. Once past, there was often a clarity to be found. And then the post drunk hump, right? The voice asked. Coy watched Leo down his third and she looked about the room. They all seemed to be congregating near the Captain. And that fine tail.

"Tha's three lass, an I barely feel a'thing. Ready ta give up, are ye?" He was trying to push her buttons.

She wasn't having it. Without looking at him she asked, "Not unless you're ready to tell me why you're a lying sack of shit." She sneered and then turned and sat her glass upon the bar top harder than intended.

He eyed her for the game she was playing, trying to call her bluff. "You're a righ' foul mouthed tart, ain't ya? Who ya' be callin' a liar lass?"

Arms were crossed under Kaylia's bust, as she was still in a position to observe and hear everyone. Even if she wasn't engaging yet, which ever way she so choose to. It was something she'd learned a long time ago. Some would act differently being directly in conversation. Some wouldn't. Others completely different if they were paying less to those around them and the immediate person or persons they were engaged with.

Theo had moved towards the bar, he had been watching the people around him with studious eyes, after his interaction with the captain he opted to stick close by, not that she really needed him to but something told the young ensign in due course his security training would come in handy.

Standing next to the bar "I'll take a Long island ice tea please" he spoke as he tapped his hand on the bar waiting for his drink.

She could feel she was drawing eyes and so continued. "Tart am I? You can take that ball-sack chin and the thing you call a mouth and apologize for telling a Commanding officer you were the Chief Engineer of this boat when in fact, you're not," She glared at him. "Are you?"

He was a deer in her headlights, a raccoon caught in the garbage can as he stared back at her. After a moment he waggled his finger, "Aye, I knew I was gonna like you lass. You gots some serious guts." The smile on his face was evident. "Anyway, I migh' as well be the Chief, I put in more hours on this engine than any one of this lot. She's my baby."

Coy chuckled then downed a fourth, "That's one big baby. I would hate to be there when you change her diaper, which if you call me a tart again, you'll be doing for a month, got it?" She set her glass down and stepped back from the bar. Buzz sufficiently on.

Leo raised his glass but did not drink, just nodded. "Ma'am." He said, then placed the drink back on the bar signaling that she had won this round.

At this particular point Kaylia did start over more in complete arms length range of Coy, Leo, and anyone else that decided the pissing contest between the two was interesting.

Damon caught wind of the little 'altercation' and moved himself over to the bar. Once he was in range of Coy and Leo, he stood back and watched. It didn't appear that any fighting violence had broken out yet. Yet being the keyword. He would step in if it got to that level. The Major flagged down the bartender. "One Andorian Vodka please" he ordered as the bartender nodded and came back moments later with the unique beverage. Damon took a sip and leaned back against the counter, still watching Leo and Coy's interaction.

Thomas walked in wearing civilian clothes. Even though the Starfleet Civilian Corps had a dress uniform, Thomas preferred not to wear it. His duty uniform was required and he wore it well, but the dress uniform was different. It was stuffy and he did not like the neckline. Besides, it was a reminder that he was indeed a civilian on the ship. Maybe, the only one.

Coy looked up and caught the eyes of the Captain, in close proximity, looking back at her. She nodded, "Sometimes you've got to show a Tellarite whose boss by being better at their own game." She would have raised a glass, but apparently, she was no longer in possession of one. Her face flush, she debated walking away from the intimidating presence of the Captain before she said something foolish. Her eyes searched for an exit plan.

Said exit plan was cut off by Westlake who had been moving towards the Captain.

Spotting the other Commander, Rosa wanted to run. Coy on the other hand was feeling defiant. Their earlier altercation of words had been catty at best. Come on, stand our ground and show this ballsy upstart we mean business. Coy plastered her best smile. "Commander Westlake, you're looking well this evening." Oh yes, like a five-foot firecracker just waiting to go off. We're here to party but that ass is so uptight I bet she shits diamonds. This almost made Coy break form, almost.

The reply was an arched eyebrow and a moment of hesitation as Jen considered if Coy was being a bastard or actually sincere. It would not be right to antagonize their already frosty relationship any further so she decided to act as though it were a compliment. "Thank you, Commander, you look the part as well". Ok so not her finest moment.

Coy just grinned and nodded, before looking over and catching a glance at herself in the reflection in the glass. You look fine to me. Hell, if you weren't me, I'd do you. Her inner voice tried to salve the wound by applying more poison. Thanks a lot, I think.

Lt. Commander Allen Yankovic entered the lounge realizing he was very late, for said party. He spotted the crew drinking and the Captain or assumed as the captain standing off to the side. "I've seen that look before." He mumbled to himself and headed to the bar away from the rest and Captain. "Wild turkey and coke." He ran his fingers through his hair fingers running along the scar, that went from forehead to the back of his neck.
