Mission:
New Horizons
Location: Station Regula I
Timeline: Current
The lights flickered above the crew and when they returned they were brighter, newer. Suddenly there was noise, talking, and commotion near them. It was as if the station had returned to a full staff in full working order. The emptiness was gone, as was the shuttle on the other side of the airlock. As was Coy. From the perspective of the Liberty, the whole station had simply vanished momentarily only to return, shiny and new again. A time dilation bubble. The crew would now find themselves over 100 years in the past...
'Now all we have to do is wait a hundred years or so,' thinks Kell.
"I've lost those bio readings for Coy! We've gotta get back and retrieve her before..." She looks up, leaving the rest unsaid.
Finchley blinked a few times, he thought he was dreaming. One moment they were in a run down, rusting, poorly lit station, trying to escape, the next, they were in a well lit, vibrant, people-filled area. “What the hell, what’s just happened, where did all these people come from, and why is this place now looking almost brand new?”
"Time is a hinky business." Westlake didn't like what was happening one bit. They needed to ascertain where Coy was pronto.
“Just one thing Sir” Finchley replied, still trying to get a handle on what had happened to them, “Won’t we look a little out of place, dressed as we are?”
"Probably, but we need to find our people before they end up in some other time period that's out of our control or reach." Westlake replied as she looked around them. "If the opportunity presents itself, we can acquire more suitable attire."
"Agreed," Fox replied to no one in particular
“Then can I suggest we do this sooner rather than later,” Finchley replied. “I’d rather we didn’t draw unwanted attention to ourselves.”
Just where did their 'supposed' Captain go all this time? She was suppose to have been staying on the Liberty, watching the situation. Advising. Obviously that she'd been gone this whole time, what happened. She'll have a story for that later. The doors opened. Kaylia was there now, and fully get up in the 'period' uniform. "Mask our signature to be appropriate for the time period. Pick a something to our ships size. We're going to have to work fast. I'll explain later."
Westlake's jaw dropped but she rolled with the sudden appearance of their CO. "Aye Captain," she replied as she headed towards what looked to be a computer terminal and tried to hack into it.
Fox awaited orders. This was seemlying getting more harder.
Adrift, injured but alive, Coy came to her senses from what felt like a strange dream. All around her, stars in every direction she could see, although she was in a slow spin. Recalling her training she waited patiently as the rotation carried her around to where she could see the station and the shuttle. She was drifting away at a conservative rate of 3 meters per second.
Her first thought was to activate her comms even though she knew from the briefing the area was causing interference.
"Commander Coy to away team." No response.
"Coy to Liberty." A mild crackle and then nothing. She was alone, for the moment. "Alright Coy, you were an engineer and a pilot, how do we get out of this mess?" She asked herself.
The voices within were less than helpful. Well this is a right foul mess you've gotten us into eh? We're going to perish out here alone and we still haven't crossed past us off the fuck-it list." Coy could only sigh and shake her head. "Of all the voices I could have in my head, why is yours the loudest?" Of course she knew the answer to that, because he was the most resent and the most boisterous. She began to formulate options.
The closest they were going to get was an Excelsior-Class ship, while given the 'apparent' time period they were in, it was almost complete. So it could be easy to explain that away if they needed to. Westlake being successful in changing their signature.
Kaylia adjusted the maroon uniform jacket a little, "Report."
"Nearly got it" Westlake reported as she ferreted around with the console before standing triumphant. "There, done" she headed back to Kaylia and the door in front of them opened. "Bingo"
"Excellent." Kaylia sighed a little bit though, "We're going to need figure out how to find Commander Coy, and get her back to the ship, now that you got the masking up."
"We know everything about her, biologically. If we can reach her with sensors, we can find her. Do you think she made the time shift? If not, do you think we'll return from the point we left? She'll likely be in distress so I'm ready in any case to do what I need to, but we've got to get to her in.. time." Kell looked over the last readings, alternately gazing around at the other activities.
"what the hell just happened " replied Harry as his uniform changed around him, he knew that this was not fun but disorientating to say the least.
Time was a cranky beast, unpredictable at best. Whatever it was that had caused this particular area of space to be enveloped in a series of time distortions had created waves of what could only be described as Time Displacement Bubbles. As they moved through the system, objects, and people, that interacted with the bubble would become displaced or shifted from one locked time to another. The station was in 2285 before the Genesis device was imploded in the Mutara nebula nearby.
Coy, on the other hand, was floating free, sometime in 2380. The ship, the USS Liberty only moments before was a Sovereign Class ship, but now, somehow also locked in 2285, had disguised herself as an era-appropriate Excelsior class ship. To confuse matters further, The station still existed in 2380, near where Coy was floating free, just an older more run-down version of the station. But the ship was gone. "Time travel sucks." She muttered out loud as she attempted to create momentum that would push herself back in the direction of an airlock.
[ Bridge, USS Liberty ]
Ens Sevria had just gotten on the bridge to introduce herself to the Crew and Captain, she looked around the bridge, observed some tension around the bridge, and tried to figure out being half Betazoid the Captain was without asking anyone, So Reanna walked over to the Operations Station to ask the Starfleet officer where the captain was.
Ensign Jack Simmons sat at the OPS station keeping an eye on everything He responded" I don't know where the Captain is at the Moment " as this he hoped was the last of the time eddies that would hit the Liberty again.
Her tail moved back and forth a little bit, Kaylia raised an eyebrow, "I'm standing right here. We also need to figure how to get Commander Coy back, given she's apparantly trapped in a different time period than the one we're in at the moment."
Ens Sevria looked at the somewhat furry hybrid Cat Captain as she looked at her. “Sir, I’m Your new Counselor Ens Reanna Sevria” she said to her in a somewhat of a stern look, and stood by her attentively. She handed her her padd with Orders too. ”I've been Assigned to your ship, USS- Liberty.” Reanna said to her.
Commander Westlake arched an eyebrow and regarded the new officer. "Welcome aboard Ensign, take your station, we have a missing crewman and a temporal paradox we need to sort out"
Kell came in on the end of that. She was technically related to the science group, but nothing like this was ever covered in her medical training. But, she would be ready to respond as quickly as possible when they did come up with something, she had even checked into an exo-suit in case she had do an EVA for Coy on the fly!
"That's fine and dandy, I know my ship is the Liberty." Taking the Padd, Kaylia set it aside for now. Motioning her head to what Westlake said.
About that time there were multiple beeps across the Bridge. Each one, when checked, notified the officer that compilations of the area and all the data they were collecting had finished compiling. This included those where Coy was. It basically said that each timeline had an open portal to it. They were slowly starting to stabilize and manifest instead of bouncing all over the place.
Kell looked over at the Captain, her eyes a little wide. "That's a good thing, right?"
"Do we have any readings on Coy's condition or environment?" She added.
"It seems like a good thing," Kaylia nodded a bit. "We might as well head for the biggest one. Not too close though yet."
There currently were actual readings on Coy's condition, of course, it was in a state of flux but it did seem to read as stable. The environment was giving off the same readings, except it was easy to establish she was in a nitrogen/oxygen atmosphere.
Kell moves towards the lift, "I'll head down to prepare... you think shuttle, or we can use the transporter if we can pull her direct?"
"Be safe, take a shuttle. Bring Coy home and then we'll refocus on the rest of the group. Good luck."
